This page sets out how LankaSolve's guides and calculators are written, who checks them, how AI tools are used, and what happens when something is wrong. It is the rulebook behind the "Checked by" and "Last verified" line at the top of every reference page. Last updated 19 Oct 2026.
Who writes and checks the pages
Every page on LankaSolve is written, checked and maintained by one person, Afdhel Munaj. There is no editorial team, no outside contributors and no sponsored content. The name in the "Checked by" line at the top of a guide or calculator means that person read the official source behind each fee, date and requirement on that page, and the "Last verified" date is when that was last done.
That has an honest limit. One person cannot re-read every government notice every week. So each fact carries a "how often this changes" level, and a next-check date set by that level. How the levels work is on the about page.
How AI tools are used
LankaSolve is built with AI coding and writing tools, and we say so. They are used to organise research, draft and structure text, write and test the calculator code, and help with the recurring re-check work. They are not used as a source of facts.
The rule is simple:
- No fee, rate, deadline, form number or procedure is published from an AI tool's general knowledge. Each one is traced to a primary source, read directly, and recorded in the source registry with the date it was checked.
- If a figure can't be confirmed on an official source, it is left out or marked "reported", with the secondary source named. It is never filled in from a guess.
- A person reads every page before it goes live, and again whenever a figure on it is re-checked.
- Calculators use published formulas and official rates only. The formula and its basis are stated on the page, and the code is tested against worked examples.
Where the facts come from
For anything Sri Lankan and official, sources are used in this order:
- Government departments, ministries, regulators, official gazettes and Acts.
- Other statutory bodies, their circulars, forms and published notices.
- Reputable professional, legal or accounting sources, only where no primary source exists or the rule needs interpretation.
- Commercial sites, blogs and forums, only as supporting sources, and never as the authority for a fee, legal requirement, tax rule or procedure when an official source exists.
Every source behind every figure is listed on our verified sources page, with the authority, the document, the date it was last checked and whether it is official or reported. Where a guide names a specific official form, it links to that form on the issuing department's own site, or to the official portal where the form is generated. We don't link to copies of forms hosted elsewhere.
What we don't publish
- Legal, tax or financial advice. The guides describe procedures and the calculators do arithmetic. Where a decision needs a lawyer, an accountant or a licensed adviser, the page says so.
- Ads, affiliate links or paid placements. There are none on the site. If that ever changes, this page and the privacy page will say what changed and where.
- Government branding or anything that could be read as an official site. LankaSolve is independent and says so on every page.
- Pages written to fill a search result. A guide is added only when it can be sourced properly and maintained, and when it adds something the official site doesn't make clear: the full fee table, the documents in one list, what the day actually looks like.
- Reader submissions. Messages sent through the request form go to our inbox. They are not published.
First-hand accounts
The What to Expect pages are different from the reference guides. They are first-person accounts of going through a process in person, written by the author and dated with the month of the visit. They describe what happened on that day, which can differ from the official procedure and from your own visit. They carry a byline and a publication date, and they always point back to the reference guide for the current fees and rules.
Corrections
If you find a fee, date or requirement that is wrong or out of date, use the "Report an outdated fee" link in the header of that page, the request form, or email hello@lankasolve.lk. Including where you saw the current figure helps.
What happens next:
- The report is checked against the official source. A reader's report alone doesn't change a published figure, and neither does a news article on its own.
- If the official source confirms the change, the page is corrected, the source registry is updated, and the "Last verified" date on the page moves to the day of the check.
- If it can't be confirmed, the figure stays as it is or is marked "reported", and the next-check date is brought forward.
- A correction that changes something a reader could have acted on is added to the log below. Routine re-checks that confirm a figure are not.
